It was an up and down season for the Vallivue Falcons in 2015 as the Falcons ended the year with a 3-6 record.
The three wins were spread out throughout the year with consecutive losses coming in between the victories, most of which were blowouts.
In their six losses, the Falcons were outscored by a total of 256-83. However the Falcons did pour it on when they played Columbia, beating them 60-0, the largest win margin of the season.
Head coach Layne Coffin will look to see improvement for 2016.
Led by senior running back Jered Monnier, the Falcons will run the football with force in 2016 as Coffin’s main focus for the season will be power football. Monnier was Second Team All-Conference last season.
Winning the turnover battle is something the Falcons did not do last season and is key to the success of the team this time around. If Vallivue can take the ball away on defense and run the ball efficiently with few turnovers on offense, they will be set up for success in 2016.
Defensively the Falcons will be an athletic team, flying to the ball in order to force those much needed turnovers.
Players like Colton Yasinski, Nick Fox, Mason and Gabe Childs will be the ones who are at the forefront of the Falcon defensive attack.
Vallivue will get to host the three-time defending state champions in Bishop Kelly on September 16. This is the game the Falcons have circled on their calendar.
If they can take down the Knights, they can take down anybody in the 4A classification.
