I began broadcasting basketball in 1988 and I have been in many gyms in the gem state. Most everywhere we go, we are treated very well by the people in charge, but Capital High took it to anew level this year. Simply said-I have never been treated better anywhere in Idaho.
First, we were seated near courtside on a media table. It makes it much easier to do play-by-play when you are closer to the action. Second, they took care of us constantly. Not only did they provide us with free meals, they were constantly giving us any beverage we wanted, and they checked back with us throughout the game.
Steve Sosnowski, the AD, and Blas Telleria did an outstanding job to elevate their school to a level I have never seen in all my years as a broadcaster. I want to say thank you very much for all your hospitality. You guys truly are the best, and you have now set the standard very high.
The reason I appreciated this so much is because I have had some bad experiences at some schools, though not very often and not for some time. It’s just that I don’t take it for granted anymore, and when you see a class act, you appreciate it. So thanks again to the Eagles, who are the Capital of Hospitality in Idaho.
