For #5, I’m headed back to football, college that is, and a running back at USC who became my favorite after I dumped OJ Simpson from my life. (Don’t care what the jury said, he’s guilty.) Reginald Alfred “Reggie” Bush, Jr. Reggie was the type of running back that was exciting to watch. On any given play, he could razzle and dazzle all the way to the end zone. Who wants the guy that runs at people. Run away from them with speed and it makes for football excitement.
OK, you nay sayers can have at him. Yes, USC went on probation for doing what many colleges have done: some type of money incentive to play for the Trojans. I’m not excusing them, but I think we would actually be amazed how many universities have broken that rule. A better question would be, which college hasn’t broken it? What Reggie did on the field was pure talent. No PED’s, no steroids etc. He was a coachable player with a great attitude. He wasn’t the spoiled, arrogant athlete we see a lot these days. He was the best player when he won the Heisman. They can take it away, but he is still the man in my mind and certainly the best player that year.
So Reggie is special because he’s joined a small group of players who have won a National Championship in college and a Super Bowl. When he won the Heisman, Bush had the second most first-place votes and the second-highest total points in the history of Heisman voting at that time. Bush became the 71st winner of the Heisman Trophy, and the seventh USC player to receive the award. What amazes me about the high and mighty NCAA, is that Bush is not allowed on USC’s campus, but OJ Simpson is (provided he can get out of jail). Is this not a free country? While the NCAA rakes in billions for the game, a player can sustain life crippling injuries while receiving next to nothing. Oh yeah, he got his scholarship, while the NCAA made millions on his image in video games. It’s time to pay college athletes, at least in the sports that make millions upon millions of dollars.
We’re counting on one hand now, and I’m betting NO ONE will guess #4 without a clue: I actually worked at two places where he went to school. Start thinking………………….
