Number 20 for me has to be the Hall of Famer Don Sutton, the great pitcher for the Dodgers.  His career lasted 23 years.  He won 324 games , had over 3500 strikeouts, was the All Star game MVP in 1977, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1998.  His #20 jersey has been retired by the Dodgers.   He also played for Houston, Milwaukee, Oakland, and even the Angels.  He returned to the Dodgers for his final year in the majors- 1988.  His broadcasting career, which started with the Braves on TNT, is still going to this day, but he’s now on the radio for Atlanta.

My only Don Sutton story comes from one of my best friends growing up.  Ed Andersen was a gas station attendant in Anaheim, California.  Don Sutton pulled in back in the day when the attendants actually filled your car up with gas.  Ed recognized Sutton and asked him if he would autograph his signature to me.  Sutton obliged and wrote it down on a piece of paper, but typical of Ed, he lost the paper and was never able to give it to me.

Tomorrow starts the countdown in the teens!  #19 and counting………………………………….
