After many years of blogging for idahosports.com, I reached my level of burnout. I needed a break and I took one. My last blog appeared in February just before girl’s state basketball. But, just like a bad dream, I am back!
I return as Ramblin’ Man with assorted bits from around the sports and political world. Here we go!
The NCAA is reaching a new level of mockery. As a USC fan, I accepted the two year ban they received for the Reggie Bush years. They cheated, got caught, and we will move forward. Since then, I have seen other universities get caught doing things that were worse than USC’s infractions, but the punishment has been much less. North Carolina,Ohio State, and Miami have all been caught breaking rules and none of those schools have been banned from the post season. None of them. The NCAA is a joke and everyone knows it.
I am rooting for Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 wins stays with him and not Tiger Woods, who has 14. Tiger’s comeback keeps hitting more road blocks, and he looks like he will never return to the level of brilliance he once enjoyed. The moral of this story? Karma is a bitch.
My beloved Dodgers have gone through hell with their owner,Frank McCourt. He has ruined a ball club that was the apple of the eye of MLB. The rumor is that Magic Johnson wants to buy the Dodgers. Hey Frank, do something right in your life just once: PLEASE SELL HIM THE DODGERS NOW!!!!!!!
Don’t you just shake your head in disgust when these pro players go on a lockout? Here we are plugging along at $20,000 to $50,000 a year in our jobs, and they can’t figure out how to split up $9 billion dollars. These pro athletes have no idea how to relate to us, and they don’t care. But without us and our tickets and TV’s, they wouldn’t be getting millions.
One quick note from the political world, which I rarely visit. I read recently where Glenn Beck said that hurricane Irene, which just devastated the eastern seaboard, was “a blessing.” With the latest death toll at41, I wish Beck would call up each and every one of those families that lost a loved one and explain to them why this hurricane was a blessing. And then he could call up the people who lost homes, belongings, etc. What would really be a blessing is if Beck would waddle away into history never to be heard from again.
Hey….it’s nice to be back.
