Centennial scored the biggest upset on Day One, knocking out top-seeded Lake City

5A First Round | Centennial 72, Lake City 67

Centennial outscored Lake City 27-17 in the fourth quarter to upset top-seeded Lake City 72-67 in the first round of the Class 5A tournament.

Kayden Christensen, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, led all scorers with 27 points, while Weston Johnson poured in 19 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Tyler Shipp also had 12 points and five rebounds for Centennial (16-10).

Lake City (22-3) was paced by Kolton Mitchell with 20 points. Blake Buchanan contributed 14 points and eight boards, while Nathan Hocking had 13 points.

5A First Round | Rigby 54, Eagle 52

 Sam Kunz scored 15 points and had eight rebounds as Rigby squeaked past Eagle, 54-52.

Rigby (17-8) watched a 20-point lead evaporate before holding on for the win.

Karson Barber, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, tallied 14 points with six rebounds, including two key 3-pointers for Rigby.

Donovan Jones scored a team-high 19 points to pace Eagle (20-5).

5A First Round | Meridian 71, Madison 67

Ethan Pearce and Austin Ramos scored 17 points apiece as sixth-seeded Meridian pulled a 71-67 upset over third-seeded Madison on Thursday.

Pearce and Ramos, the Idaho Sports co-Players of the Game, yanked down nine and two rebounds, respectively.

Logan Crane led Madison (18-7) with 17 points, while Berrett Wilson and Ike Sutton each added 17 points.


5A First Round | Owyhee 56, Mountain View 45

Owyhee stormed out to a 14-point halftime lead before cruising past district foe Mountain View 56-45 in first-round action.

Liam Campbell, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, scored 12 points and eight rebounds to lead Owyhee (23-3), while Jackson Rasmussen also had 12. Jack Payne added 11 points and four rebounds.

Mountain View (15-11) was led offensively by Nate Ojukwu with 20 points and 10 rebounds.


4A First Round | Hillcrest 68, Vallivue 40

Cooper Kesler scored a game-high 19 points as top-seeded Hillcrest defeated Vallivue 68-40 in the opening around of the Class 4A tournament.

Kesler also added five rebounds in picking up Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors. Isaac Davis and Jase Austin added 14 and 10 points for Hillcrest (24-2).

Vallivue (14-12) was led by Jacob Martinez with 12 points.

4A First Round | Middleton 44, Bishop Kelly 34

Middleton broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter, outscoring Bishop Kelly 16-8 over the final frame to emerge with a 44-34 victory.

The Vikings (24-2) were led by Idaho Sports Player of the Game Talmage Stucki with 12 points, two blocks and a pair of assists. Tyler Medaris chipped in 10 points, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range.

Hank Lodge and Aidan McGarvin scored eight and six points, respectively, for the Knights (19-6).

4A First Round | Jerome 63, Moscow 46

Jerome blew open a tight game in the fourth quarter, outscoring Moscow 23-12 in the fourth quarter to post a 63-46 victory in first-round action.

Mikey Lloyd, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, poured in 19 points and had six rebounds to lead Jerome (24-2). Scott Cook added 12, while Gavin Capps contributed 11.

Moscow (15-11) was led by Taylor Strong and Jamari Simpson with 14 points each.


4A First Round | Pocatello 45, Burley 44

Ryan Payne sank a pair of free throws with 2.7 seconds remaining to lift Pocatello past upset-minded Burley 45-44 and advance to the 4A semifinals.

Payne, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, finished with five points in a wild affair that saw Pocatello (23-3) rally from a 15-point deficit to survive the first round. Julian Bowie scored a game-high 27 points to lead the team in scoring.

Burley (11-14) got 12 points from Stockton Sheets and 10 from Adam Kloepfer in the near upset.

3A First Round | Marsh Valley 66, Bonners Ferry 46

Stanton Howell scored 14 points and Payton Howe chipped in 13 as Marsh Valley handled Bonners Ferry 66-46 in the first round of the Class 3A tournament.

Howe, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, was 6-of-12 from the floor with four rebounds and six steals. Michael Belnap added eight points for Marsh Valley (23-2).

Asher Williams and Ethan Hubbard had 11 and 10 points, respectively for Bonners Ferry (13-10).

3A First Round | Kimberly 57, Fruitland 40

Ethan Okelberry scored 18 points to lead Kimberly to a 57-40 victory over Fruitland.

Okelberry, who took home Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors, added six rebounds while shooting 58 percent from the floor and four of five from beyond the 3-point arc. Gatlin Bair put in 14 points for the Bulldogs (17-6) and yanked down five rebounds.

Jacob Hamann scored scored 10 points to pace Fruitland (18-8), while Theo Jackson led the team in rebounding with eight.

3A First Round | Snake River 51, Homedale 50 (2OT)

Snake River rallied in the fourth quarter, sending the game into overtime before winning in the second overtime frame, defeating Homedale 51-50.

Snake River (23-6) was led by Marcus Coombs with 13 points, while Cole Gilbert and Luke Higginson added nine each.

Jaxon Dines, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game in a losing effort, led Homedale (14-11) with 23 points. Mason Strong chipped in 12 points.


3A First Round | McCall-Donnelly 49, Sugar-Salem 43

D.J. Green poured in 15 points as McCall-Donnelly fended off Sugar Salem 49-43 in their first round matchup.

McCall-Donnelly (20-2) built a nine-point halftime lead and made it stand up in the second half. Green also had five rebounds in being named the Idaho Sports Player of the Game.

Tate Ova and Carter Johnson added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for McCall-Donnelly.

Kelton Garner paced Sugar Salem (12-13) with 12 points, while Christian Gordon netted 10.


2A First Round | North Fremont 53, Valley 44

Jordan Lenz scored 34 points and North Freemont rallied in the second half to hold off upset-minded Valley 53-44 in the first round of the Class 2A tournament.

Lenz, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, also had eight rebounds and eight assists to go with his game-high point total for the Huskies (23-2). Dax Cherry and A.J. Hill added nine and seven points, respectively.

Jesus Hernandez led Valley (16-9) with 14 points, while Kyle Christensen added 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

2A First Round | Melba 48, Ambrose 45

Braden Volkers scored a season-high 24 points and Tucker Lowber came off the bench to score 14 to lead Melba past Ambrose, 48-45.

Ambrose (20-5), which led by as many as 10 in the first half, rallied after falling behind late, missing a 3-pointer at the buzzer that would’ve forced overtime.

Volkers, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, was 5-of-10 shooting from 3-point range and added five rebounds for the Mustangs (22-2).

Lincoln Mathis led the Archers with 11, while Hudson Hughes added 10.

2A First Round | St. Maries 46, Firth 34

Tristan Gentry-Nelson scored 12 points and had nine rebounds to lead St. Maries past First 46-34.

Gentry-Nelson, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, also recorded three steals, two blocks, and one assist for St. Maries (20-3). Greyson Sands tallied 13 points to lead St. Maries offensively.

Firth (16-11) was led by Austin Jacobsen and Burton Park with eight and seven points, respectively.


2A First Round | West Side 40, Bear Lake 28

Bryler Shurtliff recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards to lead West Side past Bear Lake, 40-28.

West Side (20-8) was bolstered by nine points off the bench by Eli Brown and seven from Owen Nielsen. Shurtliff earned Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors for his sterling performance.

Tyler Beresford led Bear Lake (12-14) with 10 points, while Tayson Neal contributed nine.

1AD1 First Round | Lapwai 83, Lighthouse Christian 39

Kase Wynott scored 23 points and Terrell Ellenwood-Jones added 21 as undefeated Lapwai cruised past Lighthouse Christian 83-39 in the first round of the Class 1A-1 tournament.

The victory also saw University of Idaho commit Titus Yearout score his 2,000th career point midway through the third quarter.

The Wildcats (26-0) shot 43 percent from 3-point range with Idaho Sports Player of the Game Ellenwood-Jones leading the way with 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

Jack DeJong scored 11 points to lead Lighthouse (13-12).

1AD1 First Round | Logos 37, Oakley 35

Roman Nuttbrock scored 11 points and grabbed seven boards to guide Logos to a 37-35 win over Oakley.

Nuttbrock picked up Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors, hitting three of five from 3-point range. Seamus Wilson contributed nine points for Logos (17-7).

Oakley (16-7) was led by Payton Beck with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

1AD1 First Round | Grace 61, Rimrock 35

Grace used a smothering defense to hold Rimrock to five points in the first half before cruising to a 61-35 victory.

Ty Gilbert poured in 16 points to lead Grace and claim Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors. He also had three assists and two steals.

Grace (20-5) got 12 points from Grey Gibbs and eight from Peyton Reeves.

Pedro Varela paced Rimrock (12-6) with 10 points, while Aiden Aquiso contributed nine.


1AD1 First Round | Kamiah 41, Liberty Charter 23

Kamiah never gave up more than six points in a quarter en route to a 41-23 victory over Liberty Charter in the first round Thursday night.

Kamiah (19-6) was paced by Luke Krogh, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, with 14 points, including 9 of 11 from the charity stripe. Everett Skinner and David Kludt each chipped in seven for the Kubs.

Dallin Criddle had 14 points for Liberty Charter (18-6).

1AD2 First Round | Camas County 68, Cascade 52

Breken Clarke scored 20 points as top-ranked Camas defeated Cascade 68-52 in the first round of the Class 1A-2 state tournament.

Clarke also took home Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors for Camas (22-3).

Cascade falls to 14-11.

1AD2 First Round | Council 58, North Gem 33

Porter McLinn and Thatcher McLinn scored 20 points each as Council raced past North Gem 58-33 in first-round action.

For Council (19-4), the McLinn duo shared the Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors, while Thatcher connected on five 3-point attempts. Wyatt Vining added 10.

North Gem (17-6) was led by Bridger Hatch with 10 points and Jackson Cook with seven.

1AD2 First Round | Rockland 55, Kendrick 40

Teague Matthews recorded a double-double, scoring 24 and pulling down 13 rebounds to lead Rockland past Kendrick, 55-40.

Rockland (22-3) raced out to a 30-21 halftime lead and made it stand up.

Matthews, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, had plenty of help.  Brigham Permann added 17 for Rockland on 4-of-9 ahooting from three-point range, and Brandon Neal grabbed eight boards.

Kendrick (12-10) got an 18-point performance from Jagger Hewett. Hunter Taylor added 10 points and had six rebounds.

1AD2 First Round | Carey 62, Timberline 40

Carsn Perkes scored a game-high 16 points to go along with 13 rebounds in leading Carey to a 62-40 win over Timberline.

Perkes, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, also had two assists and a steal in the victory for Carey (21-6). Preston Wood also had 13 points for the Panthers, which held a commanding 38-19 lead at halftime.

Logan Hunter paced Timberline (13-12) with nine points, while Rylan West added seven.
