How did you first get interested in your sport?
My interest in basketball started when I was very young watching my mom coach varsity girls here at GVHS. As a little six-year-old, I remember trying to do drills alongside the girls. I have loved the game as long as I can remember.
If you play other sports, which is your favorite and why?
My favorite sport besides basketball is football. I enjoy football because of its physicality and competitiveness.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from high school sports?
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned from high school sports is the importance of work ethic. To perform at a high level in sports, you need to work on your game. I believe that this is also true in life. The harder you work in life the more successful you’ll be.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve ever received came from Leighton Vander Esch. He told me to never let other people tell you that you can’t do something. This advice has been very impactful to me and has helped me to continue to stay motivated and believe in myself.

My favorite high school memory so far was playing the 1AD2 2019 State Championship game my sophomore year. It is an experience I will never forget.
What coaches or teachers have made the biggest impact on your athletic career?
My football coach Jason Yearsley and basketball coach Joel Lafluer have had the biggest impact on me as an athlete. They push me every practice and every game to be the best player and person that I can be. They also set great examples for me to follow while living their own lives.
Which teammates have you really connected with during high school?
Kolten Lafluer, Devin Yearsley, Hayden Elmore and Corban Fields are the other juniors on our varsity basketball team. I have been playing ball with these guys since we were in the 4th grade. I have always loved competing against these guys and playing alongside them throughout the years.
Is there anyone in your family who have helped you get to where you are today?
My parents have helped me get to where I am as an athlete today. They have presented me with opportunities to better my game, and have also coached me and motivated me since I was a little kid. I am very grateful for my parents.

I am a very humble and quiet person, especially around people I don’t know.
