Earlier this month Lake City, which plays in the 5A Inland Empire League, and Lakeland, which plays in the 4A Inland Empire League, played a thrilling high school boys basketball game in Rathdrum.
The game was decided by a 3-point basket by Lake City in the closing seconds.
Other than regional pride, the outcome meant nothing to either team in its respective league standings.
But next year, the game will indeed count toward seeding for each team to its respective regional tournaments.
