How did you first get interested in soccer?
I was interested in the sport when my older cousins would pass and kick the ball around. I found a passion that would never be lost, no matter what happened. Now, I play middle and keep the middle. Occasionally, I play forward and have played stopper.
My favorite sport is soccer, hands down, because it comes from the heart. I love the way it’s played and the things it teaches you.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from high school sports?
Teamwork, getting along with others and learning how to be strong for yourself and others, no matter if it’s coming back from an injury or just a loss. I also learned about time management and patience, which I will certainly need later on in life.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
After a tough loss in districts, my mother taught me to never give up and fight for what you want.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I love to bake, and love to weld too!
How do you want to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as someone who never gave up.
I want to give a shoutout to my mother and father, who supported me all the way no matter what the situation was. I also want to thank my coach, Grace Silva, who knows I didn’t have the best experience playing soccer as a freshman. Thank you to all my teammates through the years, especially my sister Jackie and my cousins María and Noemy Acevedo.
