OK, more rumblings from my feeble mind……… How about these NFL players who claim they “don’t know how to play the game” now that they can’t spear people with their helmets. Harrison, of the Steelers, even contemplated retirement. Go ahead, retire. Then you can get a normal job where you work 50 weeks out of the year for under $50,000. Hey, Harrison, welcome to the “real world!” Or you can continue to play a “game” for millions, but you’ll have to go back to fundamental tackling skills and wrap up the ball carrier instead of launching yourself head first into him like a self propelled human rocket. You choose, but either way no one is feeling sorry for your predicament. Rick Reilly has a very funny article on Harrison. Read it.
When you team is out of the play-offs, you still pick a team you can root for, which is more than likely the underdog. But under no circumstance can I root for the Yankees or the Giants. I pray the World Series doesn’t feature these two teams or I will not be watching it or rooting for anyone for the first time ever!
My brothers’ son was playing a JV football game at Columbia High School this week, and I went to watch him play. He plays for Boise High. As I walked through the gate, I saw something I had never seen before. The football program was printed on pink paper. There was no breast cancer awareness on it, so it was just a color they chose for the program. A rather interesting choice, I thought. Nothing further, your Honor.
As for my hunting blogs, I am still hunting each weekend. I will run down the whole season after it is done. So far, I have not filled a tag, but we hunters don’t measure our success by how many tags we fill. We live by this motto at all times: the worst day hunting is better than the best day working. I will let you in on an upcoming blog: I ran into a pack of wolves this year, and it was not any fun. Stay tuned for details……
