Personal Bio:
I am the youngest of 3 boys. My mom and dad both graduated from Capital, and so did my older brothers. My brothers were quite a bit older than me, so I was basically raised at the football field, basketball court, and baseball park. I love all kinds of sports. I like fishing, camping, snowboarding, and just about any physical activity or competition. I am seventeen years old and I am currently a Junior. I am really looking forward to my senior year at Capital!

Favorite high school memory, so far?:
Only 3 months after winning the basketball state championship, we won the baseball state championship. My favorite memory is after we won the final game, we all dog-piled in the middle of Hawk’s Stadium. That is a feeling that cannot be described.

What is something most people do not know about you? :
I can solve a Rubik’s cube in less than two minutes. I can also solve the 4x4, 5x5, and 6x6 Rubik’s cubes.

Any thoughts on where you want to go to college? Any offers yet?:
I would love to go to Boise State, Montana, or Idaho to play football. I haven’t gotten any offers yet, but I plan on attending several camps this summer. Hopefully something will pan out.

When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?:
I want to be a coach and a teacher so that I can work with young kids, and help them learn the life lessons that we get from sports.

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?:
My brother Jake would always tell me, “There is always someone working harder than you” and that has always motivated me and pushed me to get better every day. My brother Nick is always there by my side to push me and help me get better.

What advice can you give the kids coming up on how to get the most out of their high school careers?:
One thing I would say is to not take it for granted, it goes by so fast and you will never be able to get it back. Soak it all up and just have fun. Play all the sports you can, and enjoy the time you get to play.

Your thoughts on being selected as one of the inaugural IdahoSports.com Student-Athletes of the Year?:
I was very surprised and excited when my coach told me that I had been nominated for this award. I am truly honored to even be nominated. I think that winning the Student-Athlete of the Year award is reflection of my teammates, coaches, and teachers and I appreciate everything they have done to help me. I am also thankful to all my family members who have supported me in my athletics.

Nominated by Steve Sosnowski, AD at Capital HS:
" Conner grew up watching his older brothers play sports at Capital High School. He longed for the day that he, too, would become an Eagle. Since the moment he stepped through those doors, he hasn’t stopped moving. In his time at Capital, Conner has proven himself a great athlete, a fantastic student and a wonderful young man.

Whether on the field or court, he puts the needs of his team first. He has always been successful when it comes to fundraisers. If the coach asks him to sell 25, he’ll sell 50. He’s not content with just meeting the requirements; he wants to reach that and then some. Conner is eager to help his teammates with their fundraising efforts, too.

Conner has a very full plate but he’s focused and committed to everything he does. This nomination for “Going Beyond the Game” is one full of admiration for a young man that we believe, goes above and beyond. With much praise, one might feel a bit of an ego boost but I will tell you the word that best describes Conner Poulson, 'humble'. That is one thing that you can know for sure, he is a great athlete, a fantastic student and a wonderful young man, but he just views himself as a guy that enjoys life and feels blessed to be able to play what he loves."
