Get To Know Kayla Schumacher, a Senior at Prairie High School. Kayla is a 5'9" post/forward and a 2013-14 First-Team All-Idaho selection in basketball. Kayla is looking to lead her team to another state championship in 1AD1 Girls Basketball. With 11 people in her family, Kayla has her own cheering section at every game!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm 18 years old. I'm also the second oldest of nine kids. I play volleyball and basketball. I go to Prairie High School.

What are your team's biggest strengths?
Defense and that there is a tradition of winning at Prairie.

What team are you most excited to compete against every year, and why?
Lapwai because they are always good competition

What is your favorite sport to watch? Participate in?
High school basketball

Favorite high school memory, so far?
Being on two state championship teams.

Who is your favorite teacher...and why?
Mr. Travis Mader because you can tell he cares about his students and isn't there to just put in time.

What kind of car gets you around town?
Suburban

What is your most memorable moment in a game?
My freshman year during the game to get us to the state championship round we went into triple overtime. I remember being so exhausted I felt like I couldn't even raise my arms to play defense. Apparently it didn't matter because we won and went into the state championship game.

What is your most embarrassing moment of all time?
I tripped "over a line" during warm ups, fell down and put a hole in the knee of my warm ups.

It's the weekend. Sit at home or out on the town?
Out on the town with my friends.

What is something most people do not know about you?
Im' a really shy person.

What was the last song you listened to?
Ready Set Roll by Chase Rice

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?
Don't worry to much about anything because it all works out in the end if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. - Grandpa Jerry Wren

100 years from now, when your name is mentioned, how do you want to be remembered?
That I was a good role model, always positive, and always put others first
