Offensive strengths/areas for improvement: Strengths: Experience at the RB position, overall team speed is improving. Improvement: Lost entire offensive line to graduation last year. We will be inexperienced in that area.
Defensive strengths/areas for improvement: Strengths: Speed and experience at the LB positions. Secondary continues to improve but lacks experience. Loss of leading tacklers on the DL is an area that needs to be addressed.
Special team Strengths: Unique situation: We've had the 1A All-State Kicker the last two years (Kody Graham in 2007 and Patrick Knerler in 2008). That's a position we are trying to develop for 2009.
Offensive Outlook: Continue to develope our running game and be efficient in the passing game. Developing depth on the line will be a challenge.
Defensive Outlook: Last year in this publication we stated we wanted to improve on giving up 22 pts/game in 07. Last year we did, giving up 20/game. We hope to be consistant in that area, although the 8 man ranks continues to spread the field and score a lot of points. Hopefully we'll develope the players we need to replace the players we lost to graduation.
Conference Outlook: The Snake River Conference will continue to be a battle to make the playoffs. With 8 conference games in a 9 game schedule there is very little margin for error or injury.
Coach's Team Outlook: Our goal is to try to compete for a playoff spot this season. We've been close the last three years in a very difficult Snake River Conference. We have a close group of seniors which should help us in our team leadership.
Coach's Team Summary: We will be starting our sixth season as a full varsity program after a JV/Varsity combination season in 2003. This year's juniors and seniors are the first group that started in our junior high program as 7th and 8th graders. We think the closeness of our senior group is a reflection of that.
