Offensive strengths/areas for improvement: We return seven starters on offense, including all of our skill players. The strength of our offense will be our skill players if we can contain our blocks on the offensive line, which will be a main focus this season.
Defensive strengths/areas for improvement: We return six starters on defense. MLB Kaleb Latimer led last year's team with 61 tackles. Our main focus this season on defense is to contain the ball carrier. We need to force turnovers and have good open-field tackling.
Special team Strengths: We return both our kicker, Dalton Crane, and punter, Trent Moen, who is also our punt and kick returner. We will be much faster team on special teams. Focus of special teams this year is field position.
Offensive Outlook: With seven returning starters, our offense will be a much stronger unit than last year. We add more speed and depth to our skill positions and size on our offensive line. If we eliminate the mistakes we made on offense last year, we should have a strong offensive unit.
Defensive Outlook: With six returning starters, our defense will be stronger. If we can contain the ball carrier, we should have a good defense. Open-field tackling has got to get better to be a very good team defensively.
Conference Outlook: Our conference is a very strong led by Oakley (last year's state runner-up) and Raft River. With three teams out of our conference going to state, it will be a battle for the top three spots.
Coach's Team Outlook: We will add alot of speed this year and also more depth. Last year we knew was a rebuilding year as we started up to five sophmores on offense and defense last year. Now that our team is mainly upperclassmen we will have many players with varsity experience. We have worked hard in the weight room and spring camps.
Coach's Team Summary: Our team and coaches learned a lot last year as we made our transition from 11-man to 8-man. With our experience from last year and the number of retuners, we are looking forward to a much more competitive season.
