Offensive strengths/areas for improvement:
Seven returning starters and lots of kids that have experience. We will be very quick and have good depth; the running game will be very strong. We need to develop a good passing game to complement the running game.

Defensive strengths/areas for improvement:
Seven returning starters with lots of experience from other players. Very quick and attacking group of players. Defense will be the strength of the team. Working on solid pass defense is a priority.

Special team Strengths:
We have lots of players who will be aggressive on special teams, with most of our returners coming back this season. We are working on a new PAT/FG kicker, but the punting game should be solid.

Offensive Outlook:
Offense will have a strong running game with great backs and solid offensive line. Chase Richins at QB will bring great experience and knowledge of the offense. He will execute the play-action game very well.

Defensive Outlook:
The defense will be a quick swarming defense, with lots of experience and depth. The expectation is that the defense will be the Russets' strong point.

Conference Outlook:
Very tough conference. Salmon returns a strong team; Sugar-Salem and South Fremont have good teams returning. Teton is probably the unknown with a new coach.

Coach's Team Outlook:
Our goal is to win the Mountain Rivers Conference title and win the 3A State Championship. We realize our conference is very tough with defending State Champion Salmon returning good players, and Sugar-Salem and South Fremont returning solid teams. Marsh Valley and Snake River will be extremely tough on this side of the state, meaning you must go through them to get to the title game.

Coach's Team Summary:
We have a good group of seniors and juniors on this year's team with a lot of depth and experience. We don't a have a game-breaker type player but good team speed and hard-nosed football players. We have a great tradition, and the kids expect to succeed. This is our last year as a 3A school. We won State Titles in 2003, 2005, 2007, so we wonder if 2009 is our year! Cody Andersen has already been offered to play at ISU and Snow College, so he will be a very good player for us this season.
