Offensive strengths/areas for improvement: We have a lot of experience coming back on the front line and in the backfield with good size and speed. We need some work on our passing game, but will do whatever it takes to score.
Defensive strengths/areas for improvement: We have seven starters returning. This crew is very aggressive and getting smarter all the time. We only allowed 12 points a game the last two seasons. I would like to see us improve our pass defense.
Special team Strengths: All the special teams players are returning. We will probably mix things up a bit on special teams because of the depth we have. We received a lot of punts last season and only scored on one or two. That needs to become a bigger threat for us.
Offensive Outlook: We have scored 46 points a game for the last 4 seasons. We ran the ball 533 times and threw 66 times for over 4,600 combined yards. If you can run the ball you can win. We were able to do that last season. That took more discipline on my part as a head coach than the kids. That was a valuable lesson learned for both parties. If we can enhance our passing game and continue to win the line of scrimmage, I believe we will be able to move the ball.
Defensive Outlook: With only one position to fill I believe we will have a solid defense. These guys really began to play smarter as the season progressed. They worked as one and did their individual jobs with pride in their positions. If we can keep our heads about us and be relentless, we will be pretty strong on defense.
Conference Outlook: I think the conference will be much improved over last season, and we'll see some good competitive games.
Coach's Team Summary: I think this will be a successful season. These kids love football and have worked hard for what they have earned so far. If we can manage the talent we have and all stay on the same page, I believe some great things are going to happen. Our motto this season is simply: " All you got, all the time." If this group will remain focused on that, one game at a time, they will accomplish their goal and defend their title."
