Incoming JV Players: QB Logan Hamilton, Jr.; QB/WR Nate Drake, Sr.
Offensive strengths/areas for improvement: Between returners and JV kids, we will be 8-10 deep in good linemen. They are great kids who work hard and are leaders. Ninety percent of our offensive skill production is gone, but Garrett Smith will step in to be a great RB. We will need kids to step in the other skill positions.
Defensive strengths/areas for improvement: We return four of the front five on defense. We should be 7-8 deep in linemen. We only return one linebacker LB and no DBs, so the younger kids will have to learn quickly.
Special team Strengths: We lost several explosive kids who made our special teams work. We do return our kicker, Chris Nash, who did a nice job last season.
Offensive Outlook: Offense will have to develop a new look with the loss of 1,220-yard rushing QB Ethan Radin. We feel like we have the line and backs to employ more of a power running game this year, but we still have enough speed to spread the field. The offense may take a while to develop with several JV kids moving in to crucial varsity roles.
Defensive Outlook: We feel that our defense will be our strength this season. We have a very aggressive bunch of kids who like to get after people. We feel that the pressure our defense puts on people this season will really help the offense by causing turnovers and not allowing big plays.
Conference Outlook: Who do you want to play? Firth, which has won two championships in the past four years? Or West Jefferson, which won it all two years ago? Or North Fremont, which has a rich FB tradition that makes them tough each year. It is a great conference. We have finished in the top three the last two seasons and intend to keep that going.
Coach's Team Outlook: These kids have had success the past few years as JV and varsity players. We expect them to be able to step up to the challenge to keep a winning tradition. We feel like we should be able to make a run in the playoffs.
Coach's Team Summary: You won't find a better group of boys to coach anywhere. They work hard, have fun, and like to compete. What more could you ask for?
