Offensive strengths/areas for improvement: Most of our skill position starters have been two-year starters already. They are a great group of athletes. We have more depth this year than in the past. There are going to be some real battles for playing time. The offensive line (with the exception of Bryan Cummins) is going to be young and not very big, but they are smart and very athletic. They can move and can make adjustments at the line of scrimmage. Key to success on the offense is how well the o-line develops and reducing our turnovers.
Defensive strengths/areas for improvement: We have good speed and some great hitters. We will have a real mix of expierenced veterans and very athletic youth. We will need to get better at playing disciplined football - that is very important in the 8-man football level.
Special team Strengths: We return our top return people, but need to develop a punter.
Conference Outlook: Prairie returns the majority of their team, so they are the favorites. But there are some other quality teams in the mix: Deary, Genesse, Kendrick and Troy always seem to put together good teams. Lapwai will be solid, too.
Coach's Team Summary: I am very excited for this upcoming season. We have a great group of veterans and youth. There is competition for playing time at most spots. We are attending a football camp this year and have seen some great results in our weight training class over the year. The Whitepine is a very good league, and we look forward to being competitive within the league.
