A Connor Burkhart free throw snapped a 33-33 tie with less than three minutes left and Lucas Orme scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Firth Cougars won their third consecutive 2A Boys Real Dairy Shootout state championship, defeating West Side, 42-36.
The game was close throughout, but Firth got a big fourth quarter from Orme to finally create some separation. The game's biggest lead, eight points, came in the final seconds before a late Josh King three-pointer drew West Side closer before running out of time.
West Side struggled from behind the three-point arc all game, misfiring on 12 of 17 attempts, as the Pirates were defeated by Firth for the third time this season. None of the defeats was by more than six points.
