ROCKLAND 66, LAKESIDE 62: Lakeside's Corin Peone banked in a three pointer at the buzzer to force overtime but Rockland persevered in the extra session, beating the Knights, 66-62 in the 1A Division 2 state tournament Thursday.
Stefanie McClanahan led Rockland with 23 points and Brook Freeman added 17 to help the Bulldogs advance to the semifinal round on Friday against Richfield.
Lakeside junior Lillian Rhea posted one of the most-impressive games of any classification in the loss, collecting 33 points and 23 rebounds, including 12 on the offensive glass, for the Knights.
Lakeside rallied from nine down in the fourth quarter to tie the game but the Bulldogs knocked down four of seven shots in the extra session to secure the victory. Rockland forced Lakeside into 26 turnovers as well.
The Knigts will face Council in the consolation bracket Friday at 1:15.
RICHFIELD 49, COUNCIL 46: Richfield held off a late run by Council, sending the state's top-ranked 1A Division II team to the consolation bracket with a 49-46 victory at Nampa High School on Thursday.
After a wild first quarter, which saw Council outscore Richfield, 18-17, the Tigers seized control in the second quarter and eventually extended their lead to as many as 11 points before the state's top-ranked 1A Division II team began its comeback. The comeback was done in part with four of the team's starters - including all-conference standout Zoe Wessels - ending the game with four fouls each.
Senior April Wood led Richfield with 16 points and six rebounds while freshman Torie King notched nine points.
Wessels had 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Lumberjacks, who will face Lakeside in the consolation bracket on Friday.
Richfield advances to the semifinals, where it will play Rockland at 6:15 on Friday.
SALMON RIVER 56 NEZPERCE 46: Freshman Chevelle Shepherd scored 21 points, hitting 11 of 14 free throws, to help the Savages win its first state tournament game in over a decade.
Shepherd also had seven rebounds and four assists for Salmon River, which got 13 points from Maddie Tucker and a 13 point/8 rebound game from Sarah Laritz.
Salmon River attempted 26 free throws while Nezperce only got to the charity stripe seven times in the game.
Maria Mosman led the Indians with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The Indians, as a team, had 27 offensive rebounds.
Salmon River will play Dietrich in a 1A Division II semifinal game Friday night at 8:00.
DIETRICH 37, DEARY 30: The Blue Devils outscored the Mustangs, 19-9, after intermission to advance to the 1A Division II semifinals on Friday night.
Each team had one player in double figures. Brooke Swanson had 10 for Deary while Katee Hubert scored a game-high 13 points for Dietrich.
The Blue Devils took good care of the basketball, turning it over just eight times. They also outscored Deary, 11-1, from the free throw line in the game.
Dietrich will face Salmon River in a semifinal game friday at 8:00 while Deary will face league rival Nezperce in the consolation round at 3:00.
