Meridian has won three consecutive Class 5A team championships, a run that has coincided with the emergence of an Idaho all-time great in Jason Mara.  The Warriors finished with 273.5 points at the state tournament in Pocatello this year, 67 points ahead of second place Post Falls.

Mara capped his career by joining the four-time state champion club, while Gonzalez, Rogers and Gooley picked up their second career individual titles.

As a team, Meridian had 13 wrestlers place somewhere among the top six in their weight class, and claimed a state placer in 12 of 15 weight classes overall.

The Grizzlies ran away with the Class 5A girls golf title for the third consecutive season, finishing with a two-day total of 656 at the Lewiston Country Club.  Coeur d’Alene was a distant second at 704 strokes.

Maggie Urian was Rocky’s highest placing individual, taking fourth overall with a total score of 156, 12 strokes over par but only four strokes back of state champion Ella Arnzen of Timberline.  Urian was Rocky’s #3 golfer coming in to state, while Jane Barry, Rocky’s #1 golfer, finished one slot behind Urian in 5th place overall.  #2 golfer Anna DaBell also reached the top ten with an 8th place finish.
