McCall-Donnelly captured its first boys track and field championship in school history by blowing away the rest of the field at the State 3A Meet in Middleton.  The Vandals piled up 98 total points, nearly 40 points better than second place Kimberly’s total of 59.

The Vandals’ day was highlighted by Van Vinson’s first place finish in the pole vault.  His mark of 15 feet, 3 inches established a new Class 3A record, and Vinson also contributed to McCall-Donnelly’s 1st place Sprint Medley Relay team, along with Caleb Beaman, George Speirs and Matthew Daniels.

Daniels added a 1st place finish in the 400 Meter Dash, while Speirs got progressively better in the distance races, taking 3rd in the 800 Meter Run, 2nd in the 1600 Meter Run, and 1st in the 3200 Meter Run.

Swimming has only been recognized as an IHSAA-sanctioned championship event since 2018.  And every single year since then, Boise High has hoisted the first place trophy, winning their sixth consecutive title in October with 234 points.

The Brave won this title with incredible depth, as Boise only took 1st place in four events overall.  But several trickle down point earners helped carry the Brave past second place Coeur d’Alene.

Boise had three relay teams finish at the top of the podium.  Tyler Young, Connor Pentzer, Jack Bureau and Christopher Beckley won the 200 Yard Medley Relay; Beckley, Young, Evan Jordan and Jasper Shue also claimed the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay; and Shue, Pentzer, Bureau and Jordan took 1st in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.

Young, only a sophomore, was the only individual winner for Boise, taking 1st in the 100 Yard Backstroke, while Pentzer, a senior, ended his decorated career with a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 100 Yard Butterfly and 100 Yard Breaststroke.
