For those not familiar, once we hit the semifinal round, we highlight a performer from each team. It's the least we can do considering how hard every team fought to get to this point of the year.
1A Division 1 Semifinal: Oakley vs. Grace
Star - Isaac Cranney, Oakley
The senior had a touchdown rush, a touchdown reception, and a fumble recovery in the Hornets' win over Grace, which keeps the team alive for a fourth consecutive 1A Division 1 state championship. He also had a hand in 17 tackles, to, as Oakley marches on.
Honorable Mention - Wyatt Cutler, Grace
Two rushing TDs, one receiving TD.
1A Division 1 Semifinal: Butte County vs. Logos
Star - Brody Westergard, Butte County
The uber-versatile and uber-talented senior had a hand in eight touchdowns and he did it four different ways - five rushing, one passing, one receiving, and one on defense - to help the Pirates topple Logos and advance to the title game.
Honorable Mention - Jack Driskill, Logos
Four touchdown passes.
1A Division 2 Semifinal: Camas County vs. Rockland
Star - Troy Smith, Camas County
The senior scored on Camas County's first two offensive plays to get the Mushers off to a fast start and ended the game with 228 yards rushing and three scores on the ground, and also had 113 yards and a score receiving. Up next, the program's first championship appearance since 1981.
Honorable Mention - Abe Held, Rockland
Thirteen receptions, 155 yards, TD.
1A Division 2 Semifinal: Kendrick vs. Hagerman
Star - Ty Koepp, Kendrick
You knew his name would get called eventually, right? He threw for 398 yards and seven scores on just eleven completions in the Tigers' win over Hagerman. He and his teammates will look for a third straight 1A Division 2 title this weekend.
Honorable Mention - Wyatt Mavencamp, Hagerman
Two touchdown passes.
Notes
Believe it or not, Koepp - a four-year starter - is not the all-time record holder for passing yards at Kendrick. That mark was established by Ryan Blewitt more than three decades ago. However, Koepp should surpass Blewitt in Thursday's state championship game. He needs just 45 more yards through the air to set the new all-time mark for Kendrick passers.
It's an unofficial count, but we have Logos senior QB Jack Driskill with 58 total touchdowns (40 passing, 18 rushing) and just three turnovers this season.
Troy Smith gets a lot of attention for Camas County for his two-way excellence, but his twin brother, Tristen, shone brightly in the semifinal win over Rockland as well, throwing for 155 yards and three scores while running for 94 yards and another score.
You want balance? Oakley had five different players score touchdowns against Grace (Bry Severe and Isaac Cranney each had two, while Kyler Robinson, Dallin Hardy, and Bridger Duncan each had one). Additionally, two different Hornets threw TD passes (Robinson and Braig Bench) and Kooper Beck had a pair of two-point conversions. Nine different players accounted for points in the Hornets' win.
