Campbell Wilson leads the Rocky Mountain High School girls soccer team in scoring and is 3rd in assists. Oh, and she's only a freshman. Before she goes pro and gets too big for us, we thought we'd better have her on as The Big Deal of the Week, presented by Project Filter.

Name: Campbell Wilson
School: Rocky Mountain High School
Grade: Freshman

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m 15 years old, I have one younger brother and one older brother. My mom’s name is Susan and my dad’s name is Mike and I also have one dog. My hobbies are soccer, basketball, and volleyball.

Do you have a nickname? If so, how what is it and how did you get it?

Yes, C-Bell and C-Dub. I got C-bell because it’s short for Campbell and it was easier for my teammates and coaches to call me. I got C-Dub because it’s short for Campbell W (Wilson).

What is your favorite sport to watch? Participate in?

My favorite sport to watch is football because my dad used to play football at BSU and has coached my brothers so I’m always around football. My favorite sports to participate in are soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball and football with the boys.

As a student-athlete, which is harder - being a student, or being an athlete? Why?

Being a student is harder because of the pressure to get good grades in order to play sports and it’s hard to find time around games and practices to do homework and stay caught up.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned from playing sports in high school?

The most valuable thing I’ve learned from playing sports in high school is having good supportive teammates because without them there is no me.

Favorite high school memory, so far?

My favorite memory so far was being asked and getting to go to my first homecoming dance.

Favorite game memory?

My favorite game memory was when we played Eagle on our home turf and I got my first goal as a freshman which was a winning header goal off a great corner kick from my teammate.

Who is your favorite teacher...and why?

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Nagy because she is so funny, sometimes she acts like she's a student.

What kind of car gets you around town?

My mom’s car, which is a Honda Pilot.

Cat person or dog person?

I’m a dog person.

Favorite food?

My favorite foods are smoothie bowls and fries.

You have an entire weekend with no plans. What do you do?

I would sleep in and have a spa day.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

I would like to meet Christiano Ronaldo because he’s always been my idol.

What is something most people do not know about you?

Something most people do not know about me is that I had really bad anxiety as a child.

When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?

My idea of the perfect job is to be a professional athlete.

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?

The best advice I receive is from my dad who always talks about the 2 things athletes can control. Your A&E: attitude and effort.

100 years from now, when your name is mentioned, how do you want to be remembered?

I want to be remembered as a kind and helpful person to others as well as a great athlete.
