Here are the top performers from Week 5 of the regular season.
1. Jack Driskill, Logos
Driskill is our first repeat 3-Star honoree of the season after throwing for 362 yards and five scores, running for 182 yards and four scores, and adding three interceptions on defense. We like balance, we like to share the wealth, but...nine touchdowns? Plus, Driskill is helping Logos (2-3) play its way back into the 1A Division 1 playoff picture.
2. Ronaldo Gomez, Rimrock
The sophomore had a huge all-around performance in the Raiders' win Saturday night over Greenleaf Friends. Gomez passed for 197 yards and three scores, he ran for 89 yards and two scores, he had 5.5 tackles, he forced (and recovered) two fumbles, intercepted two passes (one of which he returned for a score), and kicked three point-after-touchdowns for Rimrock (2-2).
3. Caleb Ball, Mullan/St. Regis
Ball is the second Tiger to earn 3-Star honors this season (Blake Layton, Week 3) and he did most of his work in one half against Lakeside on Friday. The senior had six total touchdowns: three passing, two rushing, and one on an interception return. Ball has thrown ten scoring passes in the past three weeks for Mullan/St. Regis (4-1).

GAMES GETTING BIGGER
Of course, they all matter. If a team didn't win the first month, the matchups in the second month are unlikely (note I said unlikely) to mean much. However, some clashes we've seen looming on the horizon are here.
Camas County (4-0) hosts Castleford (4-0) on Friday afternoon as the two teams were ranked second and fourth, respectively, in the most recent statewide Coaches Poll.
Tri-Valley (3-0) travels to Garden Valley (4-0) on Friday afternoon as well, as the two teams jockey for potential playoff positioning out of the Long Pin Conference.
Kamiah (4-1) travels to Prairie (3-1) on Friday night with first place in the 1A Division 1 Whitepine League at stake.
and Lighthouse Christian (0-4) travels to Oakley (4-1) in a potential trap game - don't kid yourself, Lighthouse Christian isn't your garden variety 0-4 team. The Lions' losses are to No.'s 2, 3, and 4 in the Coaches Poll with the fourth loss coming to 4-1 Grace, who easily could be ranked. Now, Lighthouse Christian will face the top-ranked Hornets. With the at-large spots in the Division 1 playoffs determined by a mathematical formula, it probably isn't crazy to think Lighthouse could play themselves into contention if the Lions can string together some wins. The
margin for error is small, though.
KOLLECTIVE KUBS
The Kamiah Kubs have quietly won four of their first five football games, including all three league games in the 1A Division 1 Whitepine, setting up Friday's showdown against perennial league power Prairie. The winner will be in the driver's seat to claim the league title and earn an opening-round bye in the 1A Division 1 postseason.
The Kubs have done it as a group, too, with several big contributors to the strong start. For instance, in Friday's win over a solid Clearwater Valley team, Colton Ocain, Connor Weddle and Colton Sams combined for 47 carries and 315 yards on the ground. Ocain leads the way on the season, averaging 143 yards per game, but Weddle, Sams and sophomore quarterback David Kludt are contributing 90, 58 and 24 yards per game, respectively - another 172 yards per contest - for Kamiah.
NOTES
Congratulations to explosive Watersprings senior Jrew Plocher, who went over 1,000 rushing yards for the season in Friday's win over Challis-Mackay. Plocher and the Warriors (3-2) are off this week before a two-week sprint to the postseason in the 1A Division 2 Rocky Mountain Conference. Watersprings will host both North Gem (3-2) and Rockland (1-4), as the trio all sit at 0-0 in league play at the moment.
The next to get to 1,000 yards? We don't have full, complete stats available, but it might be Timberline junior Rylan West, who sits at 800 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Spartans after Friday's win against Deary. Timberline (2-3) faces Division 2 titan Kendrick (5-0) this week, and, depending on what happens, Timberline's game on October 21st at Lewis County (3-2) will likely be for a spot in the 1A Division 2 playoffs.
Over its past four games, the Notus Pirates (4-1) are averaging over 61 points per game. Head coach Joe Woodland's team played a sneaky-solid non-conference schedule consisting of three likely playoff teams including Kendrick, a game the Tigers won 36-0, which is by far the fewest points the top-ranked 1A Division 2 team has scored in a game this season. Kendrick has scored 52, 74, 104 and 80 since the season opener against Notus in the Idaho 8-Man Classic in August.
