Here are the top performers from Week 2 of the regular season.
1. Ty Koepp, Kendrick
The junior quarterback led the defending 1A Division 2 state champion to a tight win over the defending 1A Division 1 state champion, Oakley. He threw for 272 yards and four scores (including the game-winner on fourth down in the final minute) and also ran for 149 and two more touchdowns. A great start for Kendrick - 2-0 with two "road" wins in southern Idaho over 1A Division 1 opponents.
2. Wyatt Johnson, Potlatch
Ho hum, just 216 yards rushing. And three touchdowns. And 68 receiving yards. And another touchdown. And 17 tackles, four of which were behind the line of scrimmage. Oh, and he intercepted a pass in the Loggers' Whitepine win over Genesee. more on this game coming up.
3. Kaelun Jones and Blayne Meyer, Horseshoe Bend
According to the Idaho Statesman, the duo combined for over 500 yards - five hundred! - in the Mustangs' win over Idaho City. Jones ran for 273 yards and four scores while Meyer ran for 277 and two scores as Horseshoe Bend moved to 2-0 on the season. Jones also intercepted a pair of passes.

NOTES
Another big week for Clearwater Valley's Bass Myers, who had another 275 yards rushing and ten tackles. Notus' Carter Woodland ran for 307 yards in a big win over Council and Garden Valley's Tacoma Kelly ran for six scores in a win over Rimrock. Salmon River's Tyrus Swift had over 250 yards of total offense in his team's win. Terrell Ellenwood-Jones has combined for 11 touchdowns (six rushing, five passing) through two games for Lapwai. Prairie's Colton McElroy had six completions, four for touchdowns, in a win over Troy. Genesee's Nolan Bartosz already has 300 receiving yards while Lighthouse Christian's Justice Schrader had one of the best passing games in school history with 363 yards and five scores against Grace. Jrew Plocher had four more rushing touchdowns and another interception for Watersprings. A lot of big, big individual performances.
WHERE"S THE DEFENSE?
We mentioned Wyatt Johnson's big game for Potlatch as one of our Three Stars. We should also mention Jack Clark, who ran for 259 yards and four scores for Potlatch as the Loggers topped Genesee, 90-40.
Yes, ninety.
Look, we know 8-man football is rarely a low-scoring affair, but, early on, the offenses seem to be well ahead of defenses (as a whole.)
Potlatch scored 90, Lapwai scored 82, Deary 78, Garden Valley 76, Murtaugh 72, Clearwater Valley 68, Prairie 68 and Greenleaf Friends, Mullan/St. Regis and Camas County all scored 60 points. There are other teams, too, that likely could have eclipsed the 60-point mark if it weren't for the running-clock mercy rule.
LONG TIME COMING
Speaking of Greenleaf Friends, the Grizzlies picked up their first on-field varsity victory since October 2012 on Thursday with a road win over short-handed Meadows Valley. After toppling Idaho City a decade ago, the Grizzlies lost 21 consecutive on-field games between then and the end of the 2015 season (the Grizzlies did have one forfeit win in 2014) before shuttering the program for four seasons. The team came back in 2020, playing hybrid JV/Varsity schedules, before finally collecting the drought-ending varsity "W" on Thursday.
