I really enjoy watching the Ryder Cup. When you’re playing for your country instead of just yourself, the pressure becomes intense and real, raw emotions come out of the players. If you followed it you know that it came down to the last match. Hunter Mahan lost the match and the Europeans won the cup back. At the press conference, Mahan broke down and could not speak without crying. One of his fellow golfers said that no one cries when they lose a PGA tour event, but many of them do when they lose the Ryder Cup. That’s what makes this event so special.
On Pardon the Interruption on ESPN, they posed this question: “Was the loss on Mahan?” They both answered no, but my question is why would you even ask such a ridiculous question? It’s like the guy who misses a free throw with one second left and he gets the credit for the loss. How about the guy who missed 5 free throws in the first half? Weren’t they also worth point a piece? We just love to put the magnifying glass on people near the end of the game when it is totally unfair. If I wrote the questions for PTI, I would never have asked such a stupid one.
Did you notice the NFL in pink this last weekend? Some of those hats and uniforms look pretty cool in pink. Of course, it’s the NFL’s way of raising awareness of breast cancer in this country and the importance of getting checked early and often. But while I was watching Monday Night Football, I noticed that the Patriots had the least amount of pink on for any NFL team. When I saw their “color me gray” coach, Bill Belichick, he had none on. Now I didn’t see every single coach from that weekend, but every one I did see had pink on. None of that surprised me from Belichick and his Patriots. Because of him and the way he treats the press with his boring, beat around the bush attitude, I could never root for New England. My two favorite teams are the Rams and whoever is playing the Patriots.
Speaking of pink and football, I have always wondered if there is some high school in America that has pink for one of their school colors, and I don’t mean from an all girls high school. I would love to see the football uniform they designed with pink in it.
Ok, I have heard many analysts and coaches talk about the blue turf at BSU. Every single one says that blue uniforms on the blue turf does an effective job of hiding players as they play the game. If that is true and causes the defense a problem, why isn’t it a problem for Moore when he’s looking down field to see his receivers? He’s completing 70 % of his throws to players who are hard to see. I just don’t buy that argument. If they do camo up and hide, wouldn’t it also affect the QB? And for those coaches who do believe it, why aren’t they painting their field with their team colors to gain an advantage? I just can't wait to see the purple football field………….
