Capital is looking to reestablish itself as a premiere Idaho football program.
The Eagles now enter their second season without long-time head coach Todd Simis and have had a rough past two seasons, going a combined 4-14 in 2022 and 2023.
Second-year coach Kevin Hastin likes the potential of his defense, and for good reason.
This year, Capital has one of Idaho’s best defenders in Idaho on its defensive line in Shepard Fish. The University of Idaho commit enters his senior year as the 4th ranked player in Idaho’s 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
Fish will be joined up front by Bodie Vian, Aren Monk and Preston French. Josh Glance returns at middle linebacker after starting every game there as a sophomore. The secondary is anchored by All-Conference performers Isaiah Telleria and Marcellus Clay.
A lot of those players will factor in to the offense as well. Vian will lead the offensive line, which added Eagle transfer Aren Monk, who will start at center. Fish and Glance will line up at tight end, and Clay will play in the slot. Junior Brayden Dudley will call the plays at quarterback.
Overall, Hastin is hopeful that a strong senior class can help snap Capital’s postseason drought.
“I’m extremely excited about the amount of seniors we have on both sides of the ball,” he said. “Our defense will have eight seniors starting, and we’ll have seven seniors starting on offense.”
He added, “We also have some young talent that’s pushing for playing time, which has created great competition.”
