Team Preview
Written by: Dallin Fryar Entering his second year as head coach of the Buhl High School football team, Josh Creasey is ready to build on last season's progress, and is committed to fostering a competitive and cohesive unit. The Buhl Indians return several key players this season, including junior quarterback Zack Azevedo, senior running back/linebacker Gabe Finley, and junior tight end/defensive end Porter Higley. They’ll be supported by a strong offensive line led by senior Ryder Sheen, who will also be a major factor on defense at linebacker. While the team will miss last year's standouts, such as Kaiden Villaro, Oakley Tennant, and Kyler Kelly, Creasey is excited about the new talent coming in, particularly wide receivers Kaster Schilder and Dylon Winn, as well as running back/linebacker Dallas Price. Offensively, Buhl is focused on controlling the line of scrimmage with a pro-style, run-first approach, relying on the powerful running of Finley and the arm of Azevedo, whose accuracy and touch will make the passing game exciting to watch. Defensively, the team is strong at linebacker, with Sheen leading the charge and Fabi Pierce anchoring the secondary from the free safety position. After significant improvement last year, Creasey is eager to see how his defense continues to under defensive coordinator R.C. Sisson in his second season calling the shots for the defense. The team’s off-season work has been promising, with excellent chemistry and dedication. For Buhl to succeed this season, Coach Creasey said staying healthy will be crucial. Creasey believes that the team’s relentless effort and physicality will be the defining factors in their pursuit of victory this fall. Buhl will begin their 2024 campaign at Weiser before returning home for a clash with 5A Mountain Home. The Indians will open conference play September 27th against Wood River.
