Genesis Prep came within two points of the first girls basketball state championship in school history last year. Entering the new season, the Jaguars have their aspirations on bringing home the hardware this time around.

Washington State commit Bella Murekatete is back on the interior to give head coach Brandon Haas the best inside presence in the state to go along with talented guards Rachel Schroeder and Trinity Morrow.

With so much experience back, the Jaguars enter the season as not only the favorites in the North Star League, but also on a state-wide level.

Murekatete was the North Star League MVP last season and should be the preseason frontrunner for that honor again this year as well.

Lakeside brings back just about everyone from a year ago, something which gives hope for a team that pushed Genesis Prep on two separate occasions last season, including a 48-42 loss on January 30.

Three All-League honorees takes the floor for the Knights from the guard line in Tara Allen, Alyssa Sijohn and Tommia Pakootas. The talent coming back should allow Lakeside to remain towards the top of the league.

Clark Fork won six games last year and with Brooke Stevens and Tessa Sutton back hopes to increase that total this season.

Kootenai will be young this season, with five freshmen on the roster. Jacey Grange and Amanda Wine are the returning starters for the Warriors, with incoming guard Tayva Maitland a player who will look to make a big impact in her freshman campaign.
