Centennial has fallen on hard times. After a winless 2014 campaign, the Patriots only managed to find the win column once in 2015 and have not been over .500 since 2010.

Although Centennial does play in the 5A classification in one of the toughest conferences in the state, head coach David Koch has a young group this season.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

It is hard to scout the unknown.

New impact players such as Daniel Carroll are a great example of this.

Listed as a wide receiver, Carroll has a great set of hands but also possesses the size and speed to play on the defensive line. Try to wrap your head around that if you are an opposing coordinator and now add in the fact that there is no tape on him.

Also new this year is John Little. The junior will be joining the Patriot offensive and defensive line.

Centennial lost the 5A SIC Defensive Player of the Year and All-State defensive end in Kenton Barlett. Losing a player like Barlett, who was a force on defense, somebody will have to step up to fill the void if the Patriots want success in 2016.

Although the Patriots don’t have any returning players with All-Conference honors, they are returning some players that could find their way into the conversation for 2016.

Junior running back, Victor Ngalamulume will also see time at linebacker as he returns for another season at the varsity level, while fellow linemen Chad Bowcutt returns for his junior season as well.

Centennial’s senior leadership will come from two players. Defensive back and wide receiver Stephan Brito will be the leader of the skilled position players while James Fisher will handle the front seven as he returns to linebacker. Fisher will also see a good amount of carries this season as he has experience at running back as well.

Centennial is a team of the unknown. With a lot of new and inexperienced players, they could either surprise a lot of people across the state, or they could have another season that ends without a playoff berth.
