Team Preview

Written by: Brandon McIntosh

Every year, Highland seems to be getting closer and closer to the end of the District line and closer to State. Every year, the Huskies are forced to go through Nezperce, Kendrick, and Deary. This season won’t be much different except now they will have to look over their shoulder at Logos as well as those teams in front.

Coach Rusty Lorentz (fifth season) will have five returners, four of them starters from a season ago. Cierra Hovey, Emma Johnson, Abbie Johnson, and Morgan Connerly (all Seniors) are looking to cap off their senior campaign with a final trip to the State tournament.

Their sites are set, but will have to find ways to get there and defeat what seems like a gauntlet of teams. Nezperce seems to be the team head and shoulders above the rest so the real battle should be for second. The District tournament should set up for some interesting basketball.

The Huskies will need to get on the same page, improve their defense, and be more consistent at scoring. If they solve that, they might just find their way to Boise.
