Head Coach Amanda Crist inherited a team last season that had lost eight seniors from an 18 win team. The rebuilding campaign that ensued had lots of bumps in the road on the way to a 3 win season, however with those bumps come a brighter future, as the Wolverines should be improved this time around.

Second Team All-Conference point guard Blair Radford returns, along with every other member of the roster, as Wood River had zero seniors.

While still a youthful group, the mindset is headed in the right direction.

"Although we are still a young team, they are eager to learn," said Crist.

Offensively the coach says the group needs to work on shot selection, something which contributed to low point production totals last season.

The improvement focus is simple in regard to what Crist is telling her players.

"Being able to get a quick jump shot off, making them and moving the ball around."

That ball movement will lead to better shots and hopefully open up the floor a little bit.

Half of the battle for a team that struggled last season is the mental side of things, and Wood River is no exception to that.

"I think practicing and working on our mental game will be huge for us," said Crist.

Defensively the Wolverines look to have a good group able to slow down the opposition.

"We have pretty quick feet and we read the ball pretty well," said Crist.

Another guard, freshman Peyson Bennett is one of the players that will get a heavy dose of playing time for Wood River.

In what is a tough conference the Wolverines will be challenged yet again this season, however the team should be able to compete on a more consistent basis with the experience gained from last year.
