A state title in football can only be made better in Malta if the Trojans can add some more hardware on the hardwood this season.

With a talented and experienced senior class leading the way, Head Coach Brian Poole has a group that can definitely compete with anyone in the 1AD1 ranks.

All-Conference returners Kayden Hitt, Kolten Hitt and Wacey Holtman anchor the team and are joined by fellow returners Carson Schumann and Austin Montoya.

It's an athletic group that can do a wide-variety of positive things on the floor.

"We want to play fast, look for points in transition, attack the basket and share the ball. Give it up for the easy basket," said Poole.

Holtman and Schumann will get plenty of looks on the interior to balance the attack. Juniors Braxton Poole and Christian Lloyd add depth inside.

That depth is of the utmost importance to keep the starters fresh as it gets later in the season.

"We need solid play from our bench," said Poole.

Defensively it is an up-tempo pressure filled style that the Trojans employ. That style forced plenty of turnovers from the opposition last season and with the added experience from another year at the varsity level, it should only get better this time around.

"We are athletic at all positions and have guards that are long and can play in passing lanes," said Poole.

While football and basketball are very different sports, the one thing that can have some carryover is leadership. That and the athleticism to make plays in the open court will make Raft River a tough out in the 1AD1 ranks this season.

Come March it would be no surprise if the Trojans were right back in the hunt again for some more hardware.
