Under first year head coach Butch Nomee, the Knights will look to improve off of their 13-10 record form last season.

Although Lakeside lost their head coach and two seniors in Hunter Kolar and Jordan Nilson, losing both leadership and rebounding abilities, Lakeside still look well equipped to make some noise in the 1A D2 conference.

This year the Knights will rely on Takoda Abrahamson, Jacob Brown, Bryar Sanchez and Milo Bighead to provide contestant scoring production. Along with the versatility of AJ Bighead the focus of Butch Nomee’s new offense will be a fast up-tempo style.

Opposing offenses not only need to keep up with the Knights but also must to be prepared to handle the constant pressure that Nomee has invested in on defensive side of the basketball.

“All five positions will play a fast, in your face pressure defense. Both in man and zone,” said Nomee. “We can always improve on aggressive, man-to-man defense.”

Although the Knights are a young team, they will be able to build around these young and talented player for years to come.

The Genesis Prep game on Tuesday, January 5thwill be the game the Knights have circled on their calendar.

“They will be one of the top teams in the league this year,” said Nomee. “That is why we are so excited about that game.”

The key to success this year for the Knights will be their ability to rebound and play sound defense. Despite their youth, the Knights have a coach determined to keep up their winning ways.
