Any Returning Players with Honors? Corbin Hedges: 2nd team all-state WR, 2nd team all-state CB, 1st team all-conference WR, 1st Team all-conference CB. Casey Dehaas: 1st team all-conference LB, 2nd team All-conference RB. Jared Neal: 2nd team all-conference WR. Herry Ludwig: 2nd team all-conference DE. J.T. Mahon: 2nd team all-conference LB. Any “Key Players” that you lost from last year? Mick Wilson: QB/DL Mick was our team leader and we need someone to step up and fill that leadership void. Mick was an outstanding player who left some big shoes to fill John Hulin: C John provided a smart and steady presence for us at center. He was a key cog on our OLine
Do you have any new incoming “impact” players? Lane Hileman RB/DE-DL, SR. Ryan Rosengrant WR/CB JR.

As a team, what are your offensive strengths? We return a lot of experienced players, most of our seniors have started since they were freshmen. We have great overall team speed and size. We should be able to rely on the run game early as our QB gets game experience. Corbin Hedges returns coming off a 1000 yard receiving year to lead our passing game along with Mikey Castellano and Ryan Rosengrant. Casey Dehaas, Jared Neal and Kevin Heil all return as RB’s combining for around 1000 yards rushing. To that we also add a big bruising back in Lane Hileman. Jared and Kevin also double as WR’s making us very versatile. We also return an experienced O Line led by Lucas Daniels, along with J.T.Mahon, Cole Brown and Adam Cameron.
Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year: We hope to be able to be a diverse offense, we just need some game experience for our qb’s, and get them up to speed as soon as possible. We want to be able to pick up where we left off last year with our returning experienced players.
As a team, what are your defensive strengths? Early on we think our defense will be ahead of our offense. We return all but DT Mick Wilson, but it looks like newcomer Lane Hileman will step into his spot on the line, giving us a big, fast, physical defense. We return All- Conference players at all positions on our defense giving us the most returning experience we have had since I have been coaching here. Our D-line Led by DT Lucas Daniels also features DE’s Mikey Castellano and Herry Ludwig (who is coming off a 13 sack season). Our LB position returns Casey Dehass and J.T. Mahon who are both coming of 100 tackle seasons. Our defensive backfield returns Corbin Hedges (all-State) who had 9 int’s last year and Kevin Heil who had 5 int’s last year. They will be joined by newcomer Ryan Rosengrant.
Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year: We hope to be able to get even more pressure on opposing qb’s this year
What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team? All the returning experience, we should be able to start the season playing at a very high level.
For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule? Two games this year. Early on versus Prairie and then a league game versus defending state champ Salmon River. The game versus prairie (who I feel have to be one of the favorites in Div I) will show us where we are at as a team. Then the game versus Salmon River will be a rematch of last years 1ADiv II Championship game.
What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team? We need to stay healthy, we have some depth but still can’t afford any injuries.
If you could change one rule in high school football, what would it be? I can’t think of any right off hand that I would change, maybe just how the playoffs are seeded.
Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school football? To give back to the game that helped me learn so much as I went through school. I want to try and help these players grow as individuals and be as successful as they can be after football as well.
What makes your school the best place to coach for? The tradition.
