As a team, what are your offensive strengths? A major part of our offense will be the play of Senior QB/RB AJ Castellanos, the past three years he has rushed for more than 3,600+ yards with 50 TDs and thrown for 2500+ yards with 30 TDs. With the focus of defenses on Castellanos, Wilder should be able to exploit other offensive weapons such as Junior RB Saul Rodriguez, Sophmore RB Caulen Michael and Senior TE Fernando Lemus who all play significant roles on offense. The entire offensive line from 2013 will also return this year. Senior LG Ben Rodriguez, Senior RG Cristihan Aguilera, and Sophomore Center Jacob Aguilar. We have always been a run heavy team much like most 8-man teams but this year we would like to throw the ball more.
Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year: Offensive line play
As a team, what are your defensive strengths? 2013 defensive starters; Fernando Lemus, Caulen Michael, AJ Castellanos, Ben Rodriguez, Edgar Garcia, and Daniel Montes all return. Wilders defense struggled last year with consistency, especially stopping the run and winning 3rd down. Wilder’s focus is consistency and not giving up the big play.
Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year: Defensive line play
What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team? We felt very disappointed with the way the season ended last year and this year we hope to start fast and finish strong. I’m looking forward to seeing how this group reacts. We have the ability, it’s time to prove it.
For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule? 9/5 Notus @ Wilder 4pm: Rivalry that's several decades old. Wilder’s won the last 2 but before that Notus won 10+ straight.
What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team? Commitment , toughness, and how we react to adversity
