Team Preview

Whatever the Salmon River Savages of the 1A DII Long Pin League may lack in player experience, they will make up for with in coaching experience as they are led by Paula Tucker who is in her 20th season of coaching.

Last season the Savages didn’t have a girls team, so Tucker is excited to have the program up and running again, and is encouraged by the eight players the Savages have.

“We have players that love basketball, and players that are only playing so that we can have a team,” Tucker said. “I truly appreciated those that are making the sacrifice for the good of others-it is a life lesson in unselfishness.

The Savages will look for leadership from junior post Ryan Simonson, sophomores Sarah Laritz and Miranda Hofflander as well as freshman guard Payton Branstetter.

Tucker plans to keep things simple and build from the ground up. Her goal for the team is start with the basics and develop fundamental skills with the hope that everything will come together for them to be competitive in the Long Pin League.
