Sportsmanship, integrity, and character. Those are the words that fifth year Head Coach Heather Kelly feels best describe her young Wolverines girls basketball team.

With no seniors on the team, Garden Valley is young, and will have to learn as the season goes a long, yet, Kelly is excited about this year’s team and where they’re at as a collective unit so far. They’ll be led by KZ Fetters, who was a second-team all-conference performer last season for Garden Valley.

“I like that I have a team genuinely cares about one another,” Kelly said. “They are good girls with integrity.”
Youth and inexperience is a concern of Kelly’s, but she thinks as the season progresses the team will continue to take steps in the right direction.

“I’m concerned that we are young, and we have a long way to go,” Kelly said. “My goal is that we continue to progress and work hard so that we can have the fulfillment of teamwork leading to success.”

Kelly believes the key to the Wolverines success will be taking advantage of their team speed and playing solid defense, which helped hold the team together last season.

“We’ve got to work as a unit,” Kelly said. “We are very small and very young.”
