During the Twin Falls Bruins journey to becoming state champions last season only 5A schools and an out of state team (Logan, UT) were able to compete with them for the full 32 minutes.

Head Coach Matt Harr has now led the school to three state championships (2006, 2010, 2014) and will look to bring his group back to state again this season.

After knocking off Century by a score of 46-29 at the Ford Idaho Center in the title game, Twin Falls may very well see the Diamondbacks as the primary competitors again this season. That team returns plenty of talent to surround Malek Harwell, the number one player in the state of Idaho and a Boise State commit.

For the Bruins, Braden Stutzman and Avery Manring are the returners who will be expected to continue improving their production.

Along with them, Kaleb Jones, Cody Root, Chandler Greenfield, Jonah Lutz and Landon Jones are all newcomers who the coach pointed to as potential impact players.

The new squad will be asked to replace what was an outstanding senior class which has now departed.

It appears that this group is well prepared to do just that, with the coach pointing to his new senior class as the unit to watch.

“Good group of juniors last year that played behind a great group of seniors,” said Harr. “I think we will be better than people think by the end of the year.”

To the surprise of nobody in the 4A Great Basin West Conference, Twin Falls will again employ a high intensity attack on the offensive end while applying constant pressure defensively.

“[Our style will be] same as always, push the ball on offense and play full court defense for 32 minutes,” said Harr.

That attacking defense helped lead the Bruins to many opportunities in the open floor on the other end last season.

Twin Falls was one of the highest scoring team in the state as a result, something which they should be able to continue with the new players being expected to fill in admirably for the departed ones.

Along with the Bruins, Burley should again be one of the teams that competes for a berth in the state tournament out of the conference, with the other squads looking to their youth to try and effectively fill some spots on the varsity roster.
