As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We will try and get everyone on the floor involved. We will work on good fundamental habits, attention to details, and ball control. Hit the open player.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We will be more aggressive and push the ball up the court. All players will be a threat instead of just one or two. Reduce the amount of turnovers and make teams work for points.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
Maddie Pratt, Syvanna Lane, Larissa Brumlow, Kate Renfro, Jessica Akers, Lexi Quijas, Aspin Quijas Hands up, Move our feet, and Rebound. Create turnovers.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We are in much better shape and will get back faster with heads up smart basketball.

Does your team have a motto/theme for the upcoming season?
Attitude is Everything!

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
The level of maturity that I’ve seen just from the beginning of the school year has increased drastically. We have girls that have gotten bitten by the basketball bug and they want to improve daily. We have a lot of individual talent and we are working at putting those skills into a great team environment. They are setting high expectations of themselves and we are trying to build a new culture/ direction in HSB towards the game of basketball.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
January 10 against Tri-Valley (4:30&6:00) Tri-Valley won the league and got 6th place last year at the State Tournament. They have a lot of returning players. Some people have Tri-Valley ranked as #1, but it should be some exciting basketball games this year.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
We win as a Team or We lose as a Team. No matter what happens, we stick together as a team/family/community!

If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
I would probably change the amount of 60sec timeouts from 3 per game to 2 per half (4 total) and have 1 30sec per half. (2 total). That would make 2-60sec and 1-30sec per half. (2.5 minutes per half)

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
I have played basketball all my life and being a head high school basketball coach has been on my bucket list since I was a young boy growing up in Horseshoe Bend. Dreams do come true!!

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
The administration stands behind their coaches and does not try to micro-manage. Also, The kids are terrific and they work hard. They appreciate the small stuff and show respect to all individuals.
