Who do you have coming back this year?
We lost only 2 players out of 12 from last years team; therefore, we have virtually everyone coming back. Riley Carlton 6'1” Sr guard, Jordan Cress 6'0” Sr guard, Dakota Ray 6'6” Sr post, Matt Hochee 5'11” Sr. guard, Alex Millward 6'3” Sr guard, Jesse Sutherland 6'2” Sr forward, Haden Hatch 6'4” Sr forward, Thomas Lentz 6'0” Sr guard, Talon Sargeant 6'1” Sr guard, Taylor Daley 6'4” Sr forward, Sam Krapf 6'4” Sr post.

Any Returning Players with Honors?
Riley Carlton was first team all conference last year as a junior.

Do you have any new incoming “impact” players?
Dallin Brady 6'1” Jr. guard, Derek Wadsworth 5'11” Jr. guard, Derek Thompson 5'10” Jr. guard.
As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We have a large number of guards. Matt Hochee and Derek Thompson will do most of the ball handling. Jordan Cress and Alex Millward have developed into very good shooters. Dakota Ray, Taylor Daley have the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter. Haden Hatch and Sam Krapf are both strong and can post up. Our go to guy will probably be Riley Carlton. He is a big guard and strong enough to post up and score inside.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Shot selection, transition offense.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
We have a number of players who are athletic and can frustrate the other teams offense. Thomas Lentz and Jesse Sutherland will be able to defend both guards and forwards. Dakota Ray and Taylor Daley both have the ability to block shots.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Transition defense, defensive rebounding, help side defense.

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
Depth. We should be able to run up and down the floor and pressure from baseline to baseline.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
Both Filer games. Filer has been the team to beat in the district for the past three years and we finally have the chance to beat them this year.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
Character and consistency.

If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
The player that cuts off the baseline or sideline is not allowed to put halt of his body out of bounds (I have never seen this called). This silly rule puts more pressure on the officials giving them one more thing to watch in the block/charge situation. It also allows an easier drive on the baseline or sideline.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
Pay?!? While coaching you can teach intangible things that are difficult to teach in the classroom. For instance in the classroom everyone can get an “A”; however, not everyone can be the star on the athletic field. It teaches how to deal with defeat, and puts a stress on your character making you a better person.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
The community of Kimberly is 100% behind the individuals who coach here. Most of the players realize that their participation is a privilege and not a right. The parents are not hostile and the administration is supportive.
