As a team, what are your offensive strengths? Trey and Edward are excellent shooters and play well together. We will have to make the three point shot in order to be successful.
Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year: Losing so many weapons means we are really starting over rather than building off of last year.
As a team, what are your defensive strengths? Hope to play solid man to man defense.

Does your team have a motto/theme for the upcoming season? With the retirement of Coach Messick, it is a new era in Shoshone Basketball. However, Larry is still involved in the program as AD. I think the kids want to make him proud of the product this year because he left a legacy they want to continue.
What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team? New players have an opportunity to be in new roles.
For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule? We have a tough league. From top to bottom, there are no cupcakes. It will be fun to play the defending state champs.
What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team? Can we replace the best small school coach in Idaho history; making the transition by keeping a lot of his program, yet also adding some new wrinkles?
If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be? I think in order to get a 5 second defense call, the ball handler should have to have picked up his dribble. I see the “forward progress” aspect of the call as too difficult for the referee to judge.
Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball? I want to provide opportunities for kids they normally wouldn’t have. I hope Shoshone has the best developmental program in the state at any level and our small school kids get opportunities that are normally reserved for the “big school” kids.
What makes your school the best place to coach for? It is great to have a resource like Larry Messick around the program. Between Larry and Tim Chapman (girls coach) are community has shown they will support a coach. Between those two, you are looking at two coaches that combined have been at our school for over 70 years. That is pretty rare this day and age!
