Former Skyview Hawks basketball standout and 2011 graduate Kyle Dranginis earned the Player of the Week award from Germany's Pro A League this past week.
Dranginis led his team, Trier, to a 1-1 start to the season with a pair of sensational performances, including a 25-point outing in a 83-80 loss to Vechta on Sept. 22. His play in a 87-72 win over Kirchheim on Sept. 30 put the league on notice as Dranginis notched 35 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in the contest.
This is not the first award the former Gonzaga Bulldog has received awards in his time overseas. Last season, Dranginis was named as January's Player of the Month in Denmark's top professional league, Basketligaen, while playing for SISU Copenhagen, where he averaged 22.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game during that month. He received All-League honors at the conclusion of the season.
Dranginis helped lead Skyview to the 2009 4A state boys basketball title as a sophomore. The Hawks won consolation in 2010 and earned a second-place finish in 2011 after a thrilling overtime game against Madison.
