Timberlake was able to secure the top seed from the Intermountain League with wins over Bonners Ferry and Priest River the last two weeks. Their position will not change regardless of this week's results. Bonners Ferry and Priest River are still in contention.

Bonners Ferry hosts Priest River this week. Here are the scenarios:

If Bonners Ferry beats Priest River
Bonners Ferry finishes second and takes seed 1B, with Priest River finishing third and missing the playoffs.

If Priest River beats Bonners Ferry
Priest River finishes second and takes seed 1B, with Bonners Ferry finishing third and missing the playoffs.

3A District 3 Snake River Valley Conference

*There is an state-wide at-large berth available this year. For more information on the at-large berth, scroll down to the bottom of the article.

Fruitland and Weiser have locked down their position on the 3A state tournament bracket and won't move regardless of this week's outcomes on the field. With only one open spot remaining, it'll be either Parma, Payette, or Homedale that gets to continue their season.

This week, Fruitland hosts Parma and Payette is at Homedale. Here are the scenarios:

If Fruitland beats Parma and Homedale beats Payette
Homedale finishes third and takes seed 3C, Parma finishes fourth and misses the playoffs, and Payette finishes fifth and misses the playoffs.

If Fruitland beats Parma and Payette beats Homedale
3-way tie for third place in the conference between Homedale, Payette, and Parma.

The tiebreaker for this scenario is a Kansas City Playoff between Homedale, Payette, and Parma on Monday, October 24th at a neutral location. The winner of the playoff will earn seed 3C, while the other two schools will miss the state tournament.

If Parma beats Fruitland and Homedale beats Payette
Homedale finishes third and takes seed 3C, Parma finishes fourth and misses the playoffs, and Payette finishes fifth and misses the playoffs.

This week, Shelley plays at Teton and South Fremont hosts Sugar-Salem. Here are the scenarios:

If Sugar-Salem beats South Fremont

If South Fremont beats Sugar-Salem
South Fremont finishes second and takes seed 6B, and Sugar-Salem* would be eligible for the at-large berth.

3A At-Large Berth

The 3A at-large berth this year is determined by the final MaxPreps ranking of each team. The team with the highest MaxPreps ranking in the 3A classification that has not clinched an automatic berth will be awarded the at-large berth.

There are only four teams in the 3A classification that have any legitimate shot at snagging the at-large berth should they fail to clinch an automatic bid. Those teams are Sugar-Salem, South Fremont, Gooding, and Homedale. The reason? Mainly because of their overall record and strength of schedule. As of October 17, MaxPreps has ranked those schools in the following order in the classification:

South Fremont: #4 overall
Sugar-Salem: #5 overall
Gooding: #6 overall
Homedale #8 overall

The final MaxPreps rankings will be released on Sunday night. Of those four teams, whichever one has not clinched an automatic berth and holds the highest ranking will be awarded the at-large berth.
