Welcome back!
It's time to get rolling with high school sports once again and all of us at IdahoSports.com couldn't be more excited about it! We've been working hard over the summer to continue to bring you the best sports coverage throughout the entire state. It's because of YOU that makes us number one for high school sports in the state.
If you haven't read them yet, our high school football preview is up and active right now. We have previews from most of the teams around the state. Make sure you check them out! For every team that submitted information, we have an article up about their squad this year. Thanks to the many coaches that worked with us to bring this to you.
What better way to kick off the high school football season than with a slew of online broadcasts? Just for opening weekend, we have 15 broadcasts from all areas and all districts of the state. There are seven games being played from the University of Idaho's Kibbie Dome and four more at Idaho State University's Holt Arena, plus others from locations around Idaho. If you can't make it to any of these games, tune in!
One thing you may notice about our GameStreams broadcast portal and pages is that it changed - again. Late in the girls basketball season, we made a switch to Microsoft Silverlight, which allowed our broadcasts to be more compatible with various browsers. At the same time, we also upgraded our broadcast equipment, resulting in a much clearer picture. We were very happy with our upgrades. However, mid-summer we found out that Silverlight was being phased out, resulting in us upgrading once again so that we could keep the same quality of product. We made some moves, shook some hands, and voila! A new broadcast portal and page was born. Our new online streaming software is compatible with every device and, if you so choose, has the option of being able to watch not one, not two, not three, but FOUR different online broadcasts at the same time (internet bandwidth permitting, of course). Needless to say, we are very pleased with the way things turned out and we know you will be too. And the great thing about it? You still get to watch all of our GameStreams for FREE. Much thanks to our partners in the IHSAA and United Dairymen of Idaho for helping us to keep these broadcasts free for you.
As always, we will have LOTS of excellent photography from all sports in our Galleries section. Our photographers are THE BEST in the state and their work shows it. We encourage you to buy your favorite photos from them: 100% of the money from your purchase goes to the photographer. The next time you see an IdahoSports.com photographer at one of your games, make sure you thank them for their work - and maybe buy a photo or two.
Another change made to our website that happened just after the winter state tournaments is our Headlines section. We want to help you know what's going on around the state each and every day. You'll see articles that we've written, along with other High School, College, and Professional sports headlines. Of course, we are IDAHOSports.com, so we try to bring you as much information as we can for sports happening within our State.
If you are old enough to remember the original IdahoSports.com it was very simple - schedules and scores for sports around the state. Obviously, we have grown as interest in high school sports has grown and the need for centralized information has skyrocketed. But, the bread and butter of IdahoSports.com is the schedules and scores. We try to do our best to make sure that we get timely, accurate scores and correct sports schedules across all sports. In fact, that is my main job here at IdahoSports.com. At times, it can be tedious... but it is absolutely worth it. I really want to have every schedule and score correct on the website... unfortunately, that sometimes isn't possible. That's where you come in: you can submit scores on our website every time your team plays! If we don't have a schedule up for a school or sport, you can help! If you have that schedule, just shoot me an email with it to matt@idahosports.com and I'll happily get it put in the system as quickly as I can. I realize that some schedules are not in currently (don't worry, volleyball... you're up this week), but once this first weekend of sports is completed, I'll be able to get caught up. Remember: if there is an incorrect score, a missing game, or missing schedule, just send me a friendly email to matt@idahosports.com and I'll gladly take care of it for you.
This is going to be a fantastic year. We are very excited to be a part of it all once again. Thanks to all of our sponsors and to you for making this all possible.
