Shelley Russets boys basketball head coach David Hadley will not return to the bench this season, according to multiple sources.
Shelley School District No. 60 superintendent Dr. Bryan Jolley confirmed the reports, stating that Hadley would also not return to coach the Russets junior varsity softball team.
"That's all I can say about it, as it's a personnel issue," Jolley said.
According to Post Register sports editor Jeff Pinkham, who spoke with Hadley via telephone, he will continue to serve as Athletic Director and teach P.E. and student government.
"I've made some choices in my personal life that I'm going to have to deal with," Hadley said to the Post Register.
Hadley led the Shelley Russets to two 3A state basketball championships in 2007 and 2009. He just completed his 16th season on the Shelley sidelines, leading the Russets to a third-place finish at the 3A Real Dairy Shootout at Meridian High School.
He also led the school to a 3A state football championship in 2009 as head coach (Note: The IHSAA has this listed incorrectly. Dwight Richins led the Russets to the title in 2009).
The search for his replacement has already begun. The first boys basketball practices of the season begin November 13th, while the first games can be played starting on November 28th.
