Since we started this endeavor, presenting to you the Idaho Girls Basketball Daily Top 25 rankings, the number one team in Class 5A hoops has remained unchanged.

The Boise Brave, led by veteran coach Kym Bridges, find themselves at 17-1 overall.  Following a season-opening eleven-point loss to Lake City, the Brave has won 17 straight.

The winning steak has been nice, no doubt, but observers of the Southern Idaho Conference have been circling the final week of the regular season as Boise's make-or-break stretch.  Over their final three regular season contests, the first-place Brave will face Owyhee, Timberline and Rocky Mountain, the three teams directly below Boise in the SIC standings.

Message received and delivered.  On Thursday night, Boise began this week-long journey with a 53-22 demolition of Owyhee, previously a team in our Top 25 rankings.  The win improved Boise to 10-0 in league play, and puts Boise two games ahead of everyone else for the regular season title.

Like so many other dominant Boise High teams in recent memory, this year's squad features lots of height.  6-foot junior Avery Howell holds a litany of Division I offers, and is averaging 20.1 points per game and 10.9 rebounds per game.  She's also averaging 2.9 assists per game, 3.2 steals per game and 0.8 blocks per game.  The forward is also shooting 40% from three and 54% overall.

Howell is flanked by 6-foot sophomore Kaity Haan, who averages 11.9 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 1.4 APG, 2.2 SPG and 1.1 BPG.

It's an impressive duo that coach Bridges has surrounded with several knockdown shooters.  Alison Turcke (39% from three), Avery Patricco (37%) and Sophia Clark (36%) are all capable of hitting outside shots when teams decide to double down on Haan underneath.

The scariest part about this Boise team?  There isn't a single senior on this year's team, which means Boise's reign of terror could continue for some time.

The Brave conclude the regular season on Saturday against Rocky Mountain and on Tuesday at Timberline.  The Wolves famously defeated Boise in the 5A championship game last season, and Timberline will be seeking revenge after falling to the Brave 44-28 in an early-season non-conference showdown.
