On Wednesday night, two of East Idaho's best boys basketball teams met up for a non-conference classic.  Teton and Snake River are not just two of the best squads in their region, but in the entire 3A classification.  They needed an extra period to decide things, but Teton eventually earned a 70-65 win in overtime.

With the win, Teton moved to 11th overall in our Top 25 Daily Boys Basketball Rankings.  Snake River with the loss slid down to 22nd.

The Panthers trailed by five late in the fourth quarter.  But a basket from Marcus Coombs and a game-tying three-pointer from Luke Higginson sent the game into OT tied at 58-58.

Teton outscored Snake River 12-7 in the extra frame, as Davis Wood, Tyson Brown, Jarom Heuseveldt, Jack Nelson and Brody Hess all scored, showcasing the Timberwolves' balance.  Nelson, Hess and Heuseveldt sank six free throws in OT to put the game away.

Adding further intrigue to the non-conference battle is the fact that these two will face off in a rematch on January 20th in Driggs.  And a potential third battle looms as well, possibly in a 3A State Tournament play-in game or a contest at the state tournament itself.

Both squads are also 0-0 in their respective three-team leagues.  They will face stiff challenges from Marsh Valley (ranked 12th) and Sugar-Salem (23rd) as they fight to win their district.

Between those four teams, only 2.25 bids to state exist, which means a really talented team will be left home in March.
