In their first year of existence, the Owyhee Storm claimed the Class 5A boys basketball championship with a 50-43 win over district rival Centennial.

Although the Storm rolled through the competition for much of the regular season, the state tournament proved to be a different animal.  After surviving a double overtime semifinal battle with Meridian, Centennial pushed Owyhee for three quarters of play Saturday.

But the decisive fourth quarter belonged to Owyhee.  The Storm outscored Centennial 15-9 in the final frame.

Sophomore Liam Campbell earned IdahoSports.com Player of the Game honors after leading Owyhee with 16 points and six rebounds.  Jackson Rasmussen added 10 in the win.

Centennial saw their Cinderella run as the number eight seed end one quarter shy of a storybook ending.  Weston Johnson led the Patriots with 17 points.

OWYHEE (25-3) - Liam Campbell 16, Jackson Rasmussen 10, Barrett Fernandez 8, Jack Payne 6, Cameron Downie 5, Titus Bailey 3, Preston Sherburne 2, Jackson Rogers 0

CENTENNIAL (17-11) - Weston Johnson 17, Hayden Fletcher 11, Kaden Christensen 8, Tyler Shipp 4, Kyle Schabot 3, Will Johnson 0, Andrew Deedon 0
